Have you ever made hoop "tractors" that fit the rows of your garden?

Not quite the same thing....

Our pussywillow bushes are only 4yrs old, so they're still on the small-ish side (ok, less tall than I am at 5'6"). So we made our portable run light enough that we'll place it OVER the bush when the Japanese beetles come to call. We've got three bushes that are usually eaten to bits. Not this year! I cannot wait!!! Yummy treats for my chicks!!

As for rows in the garden, why not take PVC pipe, make a rectangle frame (however tall you wish it to be) by row width x 10' long....that would be a good start for weed control. Cover with hardware cloth for day use only. They'll love it! Make sure there's enough room for water and food (and nest box if needed) and a shade cover on an end....yep, that'd be mighty fine for a day!

Here's our big one - it's 8'x8', covered with a tarp. It'll fit over the bushes great! Day use only, NOT a true tractor or coop.:

What if your chicks take a liking to your bushes in addition to the bugs?

I have a very large garden surrounded by deer fence. Inside, I surround all my beds with about a foot and half to two foot high fencing that is either recycled deer fencing, etc. Not only does it keep, most of the times, the rabbits out of my stuff, but it also allows me to leave the chickens to go where they want inside my garden, without actually getting into my plants. Although, I do let them walk around in my garlic, which is now big, as they do a good job weeding around the plants without destroying them. Ive noticed alot less bug issues this year.
