I am posting on craiglist in the a.m. to sell 2 10 week old frizzles roos. They are crowing and I already have a bit more than I want.I figured since they were frizzles I WOULD be able to sell them for $5.00 each.Dh says I won't be able to sell them.

Have you guys had any luck with craigslist?

I never had any luck selling roos on craigslist. I usually end up giving them away.

It might depend on what part of the country you are in and the demand there.

I sold two dark cornish roosters on craigslist for $5 each. A man wanted them to breed to his RIR hens and play around with his own meat bird breeding. I haven't tried any other roos on there though.

You may be able to sell a frizzles. I gave a SL roo away. Listed it in the free section gone in an hour.

At $5 each no. You won't get anything for roos unless you've got a very rare breed. Since they are frizzles you might be lucky and find someone willing to take them for free. Generally I offer the extra pullets for sale and then just add in the roos free if someone wants them. Since they are already out here and I have nonagressive bantam roos that all get along in a coop together with hens people often take them.

I can sell roos on Craigslist, IF I have more than 5-6 at a time, and IF I grow them up to about 15-17 weeks. But, I can only get $3/ea. If they are younger and I have less, I have to give them away free; however, I never seem to have problems getting rid of them.

I bought my very first chicken from a Craigslist ad. He was a gorgeous Black year old Standard Cochin. We paid $10 for him and thought he was well worth it. On the way home we stopped in TSC to get some food for him and bought 4 pullet chicks because we thought he should have some company of his own kind.

That is what started the addiction!

I do think that this seller got lucky to find us! :)
