Have you had luck selling roos on Craigslist?

We have a large latino population out here, and they love the roos - as long as you don't mind them getting eaten. Areas that have more ethnic diversity are probably more likely to take the roos off of your hands. If you do have specific ethnic communities, you might have good luck advertizing at places where the people gather rather than on the internet.

I've had mixed luck with mine. I managed to sell my GL Polish Roosters for $10 each a while back. And I sold three white silkie roosters for 3/$20. I had a bunch of interest in both of them. Currently I'm trying to give away an Easter Egger Rooster. Good looking bird too, no luck though. I think it depends on the time of the year and the breed.

When I advertise I always say I reserve the right to request a picture of their coop and come and visit it if I suspect the birds might be used for fighting. Seems to work... I think.

I have found it to be highly variable. *Generally*, I can find home for access roos (or drakes since I mostly raise ducks). On the roos, a lot of times I have had to sell them with a hen even when I haven't wanted to. If it is not possible to sell them with a hen, I have given them away on occasion and that is usually fairly easy.

It is usually the same for us with drakes, people typically don't want a lone drake. They want a pair or just females. The last ducks I have had for sale on CL though, several people have wanted a single drake! You just never know. That is what I mean by highly variable.

I had a NHR that I had on there for $10, but I ended up giving him away. I wasn't about the money, I just didn't really want him to get eaten (I don't know why I didn't want him to get eaten, because I didn't like him anyway). Someone just e-mailed and said how about free to good home? And since I wanted to get rid of him before he started crowing, I gave him away. He was 15 weeks by the way. Hope this helps.

I will say that when I took our RIR roos to the auction Waynesville, that it was a Latino man that bought all 12 of them. I knew they'd probably get eaten by whomever bought them, no surprise there, but I just didn't have the room for them nor the extra money to keep feeding them. They were like T-rex's! We had several other mixed breed roos that another man bought who is well known for buying up all the roos and selling them in GA to Latinos - he makes decent $ doing it.

Well I have 28 chickens and I have 6 roos that I KNOW of. I have a large white rock who is friendley and fine I also have a wonderful little bantum guy. I also have 2 more adolescent white rock roos that will go in the freezer eventually. Then I have these 2 frizzle guys that are 10 weeks old.I just thought they might be nice enough to sell as they are a bit above generic.

We'll see.If I can't sell or trade them I will wait till mature and butcher 4 of them.
