Hi I'm in Salem Oregon!

The Delaware hen I had ran away with one of the neighbor's roosters. The neighbor has a very large flock and I didn't have the heart to try and bring Big Mama back. She seems happy enough. Over the last 2 years she's visited only twice.

My husband built me a coop and run and I now have chickens that won't be taking off on me. I'm back at BYC working with the learning curve of having a coop and run to maintain.

That's hens for you. When the rooster finds a younger, fuzzier butt pullet or your hen wants her laundry done - she'll be back.

Let her know you have "Magic Mike," in your hen house, she'll be sorry.

I have Blue Laced and Black Orpingtons. I'll be picking up 4 Gold Laced and maybe 1 Chocolate Orpington too. I have too many cockerels though. They are just beautiful. I've hand raised them since 4 days old and it's killing me to give them up, but this coop and run won't be able to handle multiple rooster! They are a hoot though! Such personalities. Is it possible to post videos? Drumstick Diva, that cracks me up! One of the neighbors roos courted Big Mama. He would come over and spend the entire day with her dust bathing and sleeping in the sun. She was awesome and laid beautiful, big eggs. She used to follow me around.

That sounds like a beautiful flock! I'm sure a lot of people would love to have your roosters and would put them in good homes.

You can post videos similar to how you can post pictures.

Welcome back!

We had a problem with one of our neighbors roos coming over and he was mean to my ladies. He doesnt come over anymore.
It nice that she found a good fit and that you are able to have more.

good luck with your new flock

The rooster that wooed Big Mama away was much smaller than her, but very flashy. We called him Jimmi (Hendrix.) He really doted on her. He would arrive in the morning and leave before sunset. I had never seen chickens behave the way they did. I was so sad when one day she followed him home that my husband said he was building me a coop.
