Having chickens may come to an end:hit. The place is being sold. The guy buying the place had said things wouldn't change. He liked the way we have the chickens. His father is loaning him the money (plus interest). His father came out this past week. He didn't care for our coop and run. Said they belong back in the old horse stall (which is not predator proof). To me it is not suitable for any animal. Floor is rotted, many holes. Rat posion bits all over the place. Would cost way too much to predator proof it, and then there is the posioned bits.
Plus with my handicap I would have a terrible time going back there.
In the next couple of weeks we will know. Does the son let them stay where they are? If not I would rather re-home them (1 year old Golden sexlink , 3 Black sexlinks pullets 9 weeks old, and 3 Golden Sexlinks pullets 9 weeks old), than put them in such a dangerous place.
I have been in tears all night and day:hit. I will get them new homes if they say they have to be moved. Wished I would have known before hand.

It's the waiting game to see what the son says. Not getting my hopes up.
Have a person coming this afternoon to get the three 4 year olds. Had planned on that. So not upset about them leaving. It's the year old and the six 9 weeks that I have had since babies.
I have always given extra eggs away. The son has gotten several dozen in the past year. Like I said just have to wait and see.
Thank You for listening :hugs

Any chance you might be able to voice your concerns to the son, who will actually be the owner. If he does not know what your concerns are he couldn't possible make an educated decision regarding the chickens. Can you show him the hazards involved in housing them in the old stall? Show him the poison baits and rotted flooring? Does he know you would rather rehome them than subject them to a bad situation?

Talked to the son, Colby, a bit ago. He said our chickens are fine where they are!:wee Told him the end of June to mid July the little ones should start laying. And if he needs any eggs come on over, I'll give him eggs. That there will be plenty of eggs.
