I am needing to design a new coop for my chickens. Here is the problem: I have different breeds and I want to do some selective breeding on them, esp with my d'Uccles, and yet have it accomidate their feet feathers.
Do I need a separate coop for each breed? I also have a new flock and growing flock of Marans and Ameraucanas that I need a separate LARGE run/coop for...they're big! I also wanted something better for my pigeons, which is yet another coop and very different from a chicken coop.

I dont know what to do! I cant really afford so many coops, but I need to do this. I also want to get around the problem of: if I want a new breed of chicken, am I going to have to build another coop?! I have been doing research on this but Im just not getting anywhere. Is there any cost saving ideas?

Please give me some help and advice!!
THANK YOU!!

If you want to breed purebreds, you will need a coop for each breed.

You can build a long shed and divide it into separate coops with runs attached along one side. You could also make the dividers movable, so if you decide not to raise a couple of your bantam breeds anymore, you could move a divider and have a larger coop area for large fowl breeds.
I hope I've explained it so you know what I mean. I'd love to have a coop like I'm talking about. Maybe someday.
I'll look for pictures of what I'm talking about.

I'm not very experienced with pigeons, I only have 1 pair of Indian Fantails, so I really can't help you with that part.

check out Settler'sDreamFarm's coop page. This is as close as I can come right now to what I was talking about.
