went into lockdown at 9:45 this morning, nothing going on day 18.......Every time i go back to check on the eggs, the temperature is going crazy!

Humidity is staying between 60-65% but sometimes the temp will be 99.1 but the last few times its jumped as high as 103 and i just checked and it was down to 96.5, it hasnt been at the the extreme temps for longer than half hour though. I need advice

Just went back and checked and its now at 99.1 with a humidity at 65% I had put a plastic garbage bag over the top of the bator and shined another heat lamp on it

Still air incubators are just so hard to regulate. You're dealing with the ambient temperature outside and the changes going on inside the eggs. But i found the biggest problem with the still air incubators is over-reacting. i would see a low temp then crank it up, then the temps would spike and i would turn the thermostat down too much and the temperature would go too low. Very frustrating. You want to make very slow, gradual changes when it looks like the temps are off, as changes take so long to take effect in a still air.

Good luck, i hope everything comes out okay.

Im still having problems, its day 19 nothing going on still...And my temp is just not cooperating, Anyone have any ideas? Should i try to set up another bator? I have a a ten gallon tank and another heat lamp. I
When i woke up thir morning temp was down to 97 but if i put another lamp on it or cover the bator it goes up to 102?

I think you are overly concerned. I just hatched 19 chicks out of 22 eggs in a styrofoam incubator, first time. My temp fluctuated 2 to 3 degrees here and there. Kept water in it, but don't have a hygrometer. I think constant temp and humidity is greatly overrated. My eggs hatched almost exactly on day 21. Good luck.

Really? , I have heard different stories from different people, its nice to know someone has had the same problems and has success! Thanks alot, that makes me feel alot better! Im still gonna worry thogh
