Having to manually put chicks in coop at night - HELP!

I just went through this not too long ago with my chicks and I had the same question. I live in Nebraska and it's getting really hot heare....heat index of 110! I locked them all in the coop for a couple days and then let them out. At night I would go out before the sun started to set and put each one in the coop and then block off the door so they couldn't get out. It took about a week and now they go to bed on their own before the sun goes down.

If you are worried about the heat then maybe you can put a fan that blows into the coop so you are sure they are cool enough. I'm sure as long as there is enough ventilation and a cool breeze they should be just fine. Lock them in for a day, maybe 2 and then you shouldn't have much to worry about. Good luck!
