My husband has to go to Hawaii for work, so my daughter and I are tagging along.

I'm hoping that he has a lighter schedule that week, so he can also enjoy himself. My daughter is in 8th grade and I worried about her missing so much school, but sometimes you just have to grab those chances. She cleared everything through her school and teachers and got her makeup work to take with her. She tried to work ahead this weekend. We take off at some aweful early time on Wed............Long, long flight!
I can't wait, b/c I use to live there about 20 yrs ago. I'm soooooooo excited! I'm going to miss my chickens sooooo much.
Just wanted to share my news with everyone!

That sounds like so much fun. I haven't been anywhere this year.

I hope you have a great time and a safe trip!

Southern28Chick, did you get your hair done or something, I almost did not recognize your picture.

I had to change it...I was getting to much negative feedback on my old avatar.

Smitty's Farm,
Sorry about the thread highjacking. I hope you have fun on your trip.

No worries....I was gone to take daughter to school, etc....
By the way, I received my order from you quick and had to hide it since some are gifts. Beautiful product!

Oh, my. I've been to Oahu twice to visit my cousin that was serving as a Captain in the US Army. I stayed like a month the first time and 6 wks the second. I would so move there in a heartbeat. It is beautiful. Make sure you eat at Cholos on the North Shore if you good Mexican food. I love Hawaii. Have a great time. My cousin lived in Waipahu. Oh yeah, go to Ko Olina. It is a resort, but they have 4 inlets they have built that is excellent swimming. No waves at all. Like a huge georgeous bathtub. It is open to the public. It is hard to find a good swimming beach there because of the waves, especially this time of year. We were lucky enough to see the Triple Crown of Surfing up on the North Shore. Get ready for huge waves up there this time of year. Have a great time and we will expect pics when you return.

Thanks! When was your last visit? I can't wait. I actually lived there for almost 2 years, but that was almost 20 yrs ago. It's been a long time ago. I can't wait to share it with my family. Unfortunatly my husband has to work a lot. I don't think I remember Ko Olina, but I'll check it out. You are so right about the swimming. And ouch...the reef!
That's really cool that you got to see The Triple Crown of Surfing at North Shore......now that's where the really big waves are. I went to The Gotcha Pro Contest when I lived there. I was telling my daughter how we used to feed frozen peas to the tropical fish at Hanauma Bay. I want to go and hike at Paradise park where all the water falls are.
