Last night while I was at violin lessons, A hawk decapitated my beautiful chicken, and left Ivy with millions of scars. I want to protect my only chicken in the best way I can. Can someone give me some advice to keep her safe and healthy?

A covered run and a tight coop. Keep her in the coop at night, in the run in the day. If you free range, this is one of the hazards of doing so: you will lose the occasional bird.

That hawk will be back. They are very smart and now that one knows where to find a good meal. Even if you decide to free range again, keep her locked up for at least a few weeks until the hawk moves on.
