Hen got attacked.I washed and blue kote sprayed then antibio cream.Noticed some loose skin.Should I remove it? She is eating and drinking.

I was unable to hold her in a good position by myself to get a pic of that loose skin.I will try again tomorrow.

I just left the skin. From the looks of it I think the hawk was facing her rear, because most of the damage is on the side close the vent. Her top was mostly plucked with little skin damage. The lower part got ripped open. Can see a bit of fatty tissue.

Keeping her in a darkish room to deter laying. She was grooming and got vocal for a bit,so atleast she does not seem to be in shock.Poor girl she must have been so scared when the hawk got her.

First hawk attack since I got chickens 3 years ago. I never heard the attack from the house. I am guessing my roo got the hawk off her and they all ran to the coop. I actually found 2 hens in a one hen nest box. Poor things.

Some times if you put it back over the wound where it came off it will heal back on but when it heals most of the time it doesn't have felling

. If the skin drys out or starts to look infected I would take it off but if is looking good or if the wound is really deep I would definitely see if it heals back on
