Hawk attack

She's still the same I had to feed her by a spoon and drank she alot of the Gatorade..and she can stand up and walk but she keeps her eyes closed idk why

Hawk likely delivered multiple bites to head and may have had talons involved there as well. Damaged areas will have swelling. It is kind of like being stabbed in head with an ice pick. Give her time with just water. She can go a few days without food. She will loose weight and go out of lay if damaged like a I think. If no infection, then she will rebound rather quickly.

I had an American Dominique cockerel take similar bites from a Great-horned Owl a few weeks ago. It took a several days before he came back on feed, and an additional month before vision largely restored. Swelling was barely evident externally, but does not take much internally to cause real confusion.

I was wondering about talon wounds since I read that normally a hawk kills its victim upon impact with the talons when they land on them. Same as a fox. when they grab the bird, the teeth and external pressure of the jaws does damage.

Took her to the Vet today and he gave her a good look over , He said it looks like her left eye has got infected but her right eye looks good even though she acts like she can't see but idk, She doesn't have any broken bones or anything, I still can't get her to eat good or even on her own, he put her on Baytril antibiotics and an antibiotic cream for her eye, even though she's not eating or drinking for me he said she was well hydrated and asked if I keep food and water in the pen with her I said yes he said she must be drinking and eating at sometime during the night I told the Vet that she was Faking with me just to get the attention lol...I'm going to keep her inside a few more days,we have been getting alot of rain so when it clears up I'll take her outside to see how she does.

Be very attentive when you bring her back into the flock! After a few days away, the rest of the flock might pick on her because she's come back and disturbed the pecking order. If you have a crate that you can keep her in while the re-introduction occurs, that would be best. You don't want her to get re-traumatized after having recovered from a hawk attack.
