I send my best wishes for your chick..It sounds like you caught it just in time..A red-tailed hawk got one of mine when it was roosting on the fence..Decapitated it right in front of the other hens..
.. I live in the city so I didn't think hawks would be a problem..I won't let them free-range again, too risky to lose one..the hawk came back the next day and waited on the henhouse...I have to say it was a stunner.Very regal looking..Just doing it's job..Best wishes..:
