I just wanted to update everyone who replied to my hawk attack. My Pearl White Leghorn did rip some of the stitches and left an opening of about 1 inch in diameter. It looked like dried food, though it was darker in color. Last week I noticed the skin around it was closing and pushing this dark food outward. It looked like an umbilical cord. I checked her again last night and it was gone! The site was now about 1/2 inch in diameter and a pale pink color. She has healed so well!!! I am so surprised because after I stitched the site, I realized I stitched the crop, the upper area to the skin, the lower area. This is so amazing. She is happy, healthy, and has been laying eggs since the attack. Thank you all for your input.
