Hawk Attempt

I let my big chicken into the yard so the little ones could use the run. Working within 50 feet of them I heard something slam into the fence and looked up to a hawk flying away and land in a nearby tree. I guess it miscalculated something. It must have seen the net on top and tried to fly under. It didn't try for the big chickens that would have been easy. Hawk probably has headache but no chicken.

I have seen one eyeing my run from a tree, but at least for the moment feel pretty confident it cant get in. I guess those those little moving nuggets were just too much to resist.

They will even come by foot to inspect the fence in hope of finding a hole they can squeeze through.

Quite lucky here in uk our only issues really are foxes hope they stay safe

That may have been what happened, i'm not actually sure. The little ones were learning to dust bathe near the fence. The thud into the fence was loud, but not as loud as I would have expected a diving hawk to sound like. All I saw was a hawk flying away and some slightly spooked little chickens wondering what had just happened.
