Hello everyone, i have two hawks circling about a mile or less, above the chicken run even tho they are covered with netting.
I feel bad bc I can't let the ones in the other chicken coop with no run out bc they have no protection 😳
Not sure what to do in that situation. We had a hawk attach about two years ago and later that day after it ate Mango and left only a pile of feathers and heartbreak it was on the back porch looking for more! Anyways we got netting and got more chickens and moved them out to the bigger coop/shed so I'm not worried unless I let the chickens that r separated at this point out bc of no pertection.
But since I have two roosters I might put in the small coop soon, if I let them out to roam will the hawks eat them!??
There's roosters so I wouldn't think so🤔

Oh😬
Kinda tough, I got them to be protectors, but I'm hoping if I have two out they'll be ok
My barred rock Roo ended up killing a hawk, But the hawk was a cooper's hawk ( A small breed of hawk ) and my Roo is quite the big guy. While some roosters WILL attack hawks just like sourland said, Majority loses and it ends up costing their life. It's better to not take the risk and even IF a rooster ends up winning the fight they can be severely injured and may die afterwards.
