I'm just heartbroken! A hawk got one of my call ducklings this morning. I hatched a bunch earlier this year and kept 1 pair for my son. They're his "rubber duckies" he loves them. Well...a hawk just got 1 and was working on the other when they guineas let us know. So....1 is alive with some feathers missing, but the other was dead. Of course, it was my favorite. DS understands farm life and chicks die sometimes and all that. He just enjoys these ducks so much! I'm just sick about it. I'm glad the guineas were out to 'sound the alarm' the chickens were all hiding under the pine trees. We had cleared the dead branches out earlier this year.....I'm really glad it makes good hiding spots!
DH grabbed a shotgun and went after it. He says it had to be 3 feet long! He couldn't get close enough to it, but he did find 3 nests. So that's 3 trees that are coming down!
