Last week I let the chickens out to free range at like 9 in the morning, I then went to the bathroom and then I heard something strange, my ten week old puppy was barking like crazy at the chickens so I looked outside and saw all six hens freaking out in the coop as a Cooper's hawk made it's way towards them, luckily my silver laced wyandotte rooster was in front of the coop, and he was fortunately able to fight it off. And just this morning the same hawk flew over the yard, lower than usual, and they all dashed to the safety of an overhanging bush, I'm not worried about it getting into the run or coop, as both are covered and well protected and my while yard is either surrounded by bushes or trees, it's just this one spot in the middle that is completely in the open and they love to graze and sunbathe here, they've also gotta go through that open spot to get to the coop. Is there anything I can do?
