Hawk proofing an outdoor run

We had an ice storm overnight. It is over now. So far, the lightweight bird netting over our run is holding up....if there are tears, they can be mended with zip ties.

here's the 25' expanse over the run this morning, sagging quite a bit as you can see. The tree in the run wasn't there when we installed the netting 3 yrs ago. It now helps hold it up...

Sides AND flat roof part of the run is covered with 1/2" hardware cloth. Then the flat roof was covered with fiberglass translucent panels. 3 flocks, 6 years and no predator has gotten in (jinxed that didn't I?).

Very cool pics Sue T, like Aart said that 1st one is just awesome. Ice storms sure make ordinary things extraordinarily beautiful! (not that I'm a big fan of ice storms, they can also make life Hell). Hope you and yours are well, thanks for sharing the cool shots:D.

Is it truly flat...or a bit of angle for rain runoff?
Can't help but think, they wouldn'ta done it like that in 1868 :D

Flat in theory. I'm sure the ground and walls have shifted a bit with age. Fastening screws on on the hills (not the valleys) on the corrugated panels. Overlap on the panels too. Even if perfectly flat (level) rain couldn't build up higher faster then it would fall off over the edges.

P.S. I never said it was 1868! Just that I think it is 1868!!! ;)
