I also had issues with hawks and ended up setting a net over their new run. They have a 25' by 60' run.

These pens are totally covered with netting. I put the netting up several years ago when the trees were small. I haven't had to replace the main 2" mesh heavy duty piece which is 50' x 200', it's still in good condition. My pens totally are 60' x 200'. I bought some smaller mesh bird netting 8' x 150' and put it across both ends of the pens, the end attached to the coops and some at the far end across the back side of the pens. This year I am replacing the bird netting with some larger mesh hard to handle netting. Previously I had lost a couple of birds to hawks and at night in a couple of my open coops I lost some birds to owls. I put tarps up over the open side of those coops. Not a loss since.
