Hawks!

Yes, netting will work. I bought 2 sheets[24'sq] of bird netting from Amazon for less than $35 with shipping. I put it up after a hawk attack right in front of me, luckily my girls made it under the giant tomato plant in the garden without getting caught. My netting covers about 1,000 sq ft of yard and garden area (rest of my backyard is concrete and pool). I used vinyl covered steel cables to attach it to one perimeter wall and hooks from the roof of my house. I zip tied the pcs together and it works GREAT! The hawks don't even hang around on the telephone poles anymore, and there is a mated pair that nest a couple houses away. On areas where I "go under the netting" to get to their run/coop, we let the netting hang down several ft so if a hawk is looking to attack, they'd have to go really low to get under the netting and then still figure a way out. And in order to keep the net hanging downward, I put a couple sm rocks in a baggy and tied it to the corners of net that hangs down. My girls have figured it out too, if they see something scary, they'll run under the net for safety. (They still come to the porch to beg for snacks though!)
