Aww, thank goodness you saved her. She's a cutie!
I seem to lose about one chicken per year by a hawk. This spring, I had all the windows in the house open, and I was cleaning, and I hear the "distress" call from one of the flockers. I ran outside and just managed to chase off a hawk as it was swooping down to grab one of my oldest hens!
One thing I noticed about the hawks around my house, is that I only see them in the morning hours. They're usually nowhere to be found after 3:00 or so. I keep the flock locked up until around 5pm anyhow, so they will lay their eggs in the nest boxes and not outside.
Good luck and I hope she recovers!
