Hay for my first time layers nests!

I was using rice straw in the nesting boxes, but the 8 week olds were pulling it all out. I replaced it with the wood shavings and they still get in it, but most of it is staying in the box now! Sometimes you have to change things up!

Any of the above mentioned products will be fine for the nest boxes, so try something, and I'd go with the least expensive.
Here we use shavings on top of empty feed bags, sometimes hay if it's handy, or a mix. We generally don't have straw nearby, so it's not being used out there now. If we had some close, it would be fine too.
We just replaced the four inch high board in front of the nest boxes with a six inch board, so maybe the bedding won't get tossed out so fast!
