hay in my water >:-(

I get the same in my coop...Dunno what they're doing in there sometimes, but I've gotten like "snowdrifts" of pine shavings up against the walls and into the waterer !
Just got into the habit of checking it frequently.. price to pay for active hens I guess

's funny - I used a couple of metal dog water bowls to fill w/water as a temp measure until I could get a "real" water system - but they work best. It's good cause the dog is also in the pen during the day. The bowls stay fairly clean - and they can't sit on the edge cause it will tip

My biggest problem is - that the dog likes the chicken food.... and if I give the girls anything too good - he'll eat it and won't share... luckily he is little and doesnt eat much - and he has thick fur so that the roosters dont hurt him when they try to be big and bad!

I just pu tbricks under mine up o right below the chicken's head's. Works great! Mine used to always be perching on it and knocking it over but know it's too high WAHAHAHAHAH!!

I may have the same water in 3 1/2 Gal. At first I had it sitting on 4" cap blocks and the straw was always getting into the trough. I now have it sitting on a 8x12 cinder block and it is working out well.

I've put my water on a platform and it still get stuff in it. They kick stuff around like little feathered place kickers so I just change the water out frequently.
