Hay substitutes/alternatives? Trying not to spend to much$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I get my hay from local farmers, and for me/in my experience hay IS the cheap feed. (I don't have goats but what I have are browsers still.) It's literally just cut grass.

Agreed. Hay is usually cheeper then any other feed. Supplemets and pellets are expensive!

What are you paying for hay? That might be part of the issue—hay from a store is usually much more expensive than from a farm.

I'm not currently buying any hay, but I would like to support a farm that is local.
