I have used shavings from the being (2yrs) and I love it. I use the deep litter method on the floor, I use a deep layer on the poop board under the roost and I use it in my nest boxes! My eggs are so clean. I have no nasty smells in the coop. I use two kitty litter scoops to get up droppings... To start w/ I purchase 4 bales/bags... It cost me 4.50 a bale and I buy one bale every month..

I own a landscaping company and do subdivissions. In the scrap lumber bin there is two by fours or by six or tens. These are not pressure treated so I have a planer and just collect the wood and run it through the planer and fill garbage cans,Just make sure the wood is stored out of the rain. I can make enouph for the coup in about an hour. It`s a big coup too 17 by 27
