Not sure if I'm putting this in the right place, but I'm so happy
and excited
that my Buff Orpington rooster crowed for the first time today!!!!!
I was walking back from mom and dad's house and got to the berm that separates my yard from the field. All of a sudden, I heard it!!! I gave no thought at all...I just yelled out really loud (it echoed off the hill behind the house) HE CROWED!!!! My mom yelled back from where she was sitting on the porch "Yeah, we heard it!"
I walked over to the pen and told him he was a good boy and would he please do it again? Of course he didn't!
But when I turned around and started around the side of the house, I guess he decided he DID want to crow. So of course, while my back is turned, he lets out another one. I started laughing and yelled "He sounds sick!!!" My mom and dad were sitting on their porch laughing their rear ends off at me. My mother called me on the phone when I got in the house and said "You DO know that roosters are supposed to crow, right?" I was like "Duh....no"
He wasn't supposed to be a rooster at all. When I bought him and the others, they were supposed to be all pullets. But I'm happy I have a rooster! And that he crowed!!! Now if only the hens would start laying...
