I ordered 25 chicks online from a hatchery they arrived last Friday. I lost one yesterday… just started to lay around more than normal and died the same day. I had it, and one other seperated when it started acting weird.
It’s making a bobbing gasping motion. Peeps almost every time it breathes. It’s still standing but occasionally peeps loudly shakes its head and falls over. It isn’t eating or drinking.
I have electrolytes and probiotics in the water. It’s been like this 2 days. I give it water from my fingertip every so often. It does drink that but it can’t stop bobbing it’s head long enough to eat or drink on its own. It’s constantly doing it.

it had one of those fits and then just never got back up.
I know it's hard to lose the little ones. It's very hard to know what's wrong when they are so small, but my guess is that the shipping was just too much for that one. It unfortunately happens. Some hatcheries will replace them, but generally have a minimum that they will ship, or they may refund for any lost. If you have 23 happy, healthy ones, then that is a very good percentage.
