Thank you both @lbgreenfield and @Eggcessive ! We've been digging deep into any and every scrap of info about Mareks for the last week or so, when we started to have deep suspicions.

The truly unfortunate thing is we're also beginning to learn that the woman we got many of our birds from, a local source here in Austin called Blue Star Chicken Ranch, has a bit of a reputation for knowingly selling sick birds We're going to let her know, but don't hold out a lot of hope that it'll inspire a change in her practices. We've got another couple of sources, too, though.

For the Blue Star Ranch, consider leaving a bad Google Review or possibly posting a warning on BYC. Not sure if that's considered "kosher", but I would consider it a courtesy to others in that area of that ranch!
