head exploding: will my trailer coop be too small?

You could expand floor space by adding another level. Add a 3'x6' piece of plywoodshelf on both ends, properly supported of course, about 3-3.5 feet up from the floor. This would give you another 36 SF, and leave a 4'x6" space for the birds to fly from the lower floor to the upper floor. This gets you to 96 SF of floor space.

You're not kidding. I saw somone with the prettiest little "Teardrop" the other days. All varnished wood exterior!

Well, it was a free trailer, no title, that had sat abandoned (except for the raccoons that lived in it) next to a river camp for years- we pulled it out and took it to the farm where it was the topic of a lot of talk but little action. The barn cats liked living in it for a while, but they've moved on to greener pastures, so now it's either getting sold for scrap or housing my chickens. I'm sure the ladies will enjoy the retro flair- and now that I've learned it's a "canned ham" trailer, we've got a whole new option in naming the coop!

Up until now, I was going to call it "Camp Run-a-cluck".
