We have RIR who presented 2 days ago w/her head hanging down. I was worried about heat so took her to water and she immediately started drinking. I put her legs in the water on and off for a while....the whole time she wass drinking. When I pull her head back up she can hold it but when she lowers it she gets to a certain point and it just falls straight down. She can pull it back up but it seems to be alot of work. She is getting in and out of the coop, roosting, even free ranging but w/her head down. Any ideas?

Treat her for wry neck and heat exhaustion. I had a rooster the same way, he got better in two days. Polyvisol no iron baby vitamins, vitamin e, minerals, electrolytes, sugar water, ice cubes. I dunked him in the goat trough and put him in a cage in the shade. I wasn't sure what it was so I treated for both. Silly rooster got so much better he ran away and I never saw him again. Last I saw he was chasing bugs in the front yard. I think maybe a hawk got him. Good luck.
