Head Poof!

Hello, this is my first time raising two little ducklings named Daisy and Daffy. Daisy is a white pekin, and Daffy is SUPPOSED to be a black runner... however, I don't think that s/he is.

Now Daisy is the one who this post is about... the first week I got her I noticed this little poof on her head.

Should I be concerned?

Daffy appears to be a Black Swedish. Cutie!

and Daisy appears to be a Crested Pekin. They are lovely, and there is a bit written about special concerns for them, such as breeding.

Perhaps you can do a search through the archives on "crested duck" I know there is a thread about them.

Thank you! I will definitely look at those archives because I'm not sure about the genders and if they do breed... well, I want to know everything there is to know.

It's just a shame in a way because I ordered from Ideal's website and not only did they ship me both the wrong birds, they also shipped me "st. run" instead of "pullets" like I called and requested on MULTIPLE occasions... and they still managed to screw up. I ordered a white pekin (no crest) and a black runner - not a black swede. The black swedes and white pekins are both beautiful birds though, so I guarantee I'm not too disheartened.

I love both these ducks with all my heart. I will forever want to have ducks again and again... I'm just going to choose another hatchery next time
