I have a 2 week old Pekin and random times during the day he drops he sporadically shakes his head and body for a good six seconds and usually falls down. Is this a brain problem?? Anything I can do to help?

If you are feeding chick starter, he may be having neurological problems due to low niacin.

Either sprinkle a tablespoon of brewer's yeast on his food, or add 150 mg of plain niacin - not no-flush, not timed release - per gallon of drinking water for the next 8 weeks.

In most of the cases I have seen on the forum, if it is a niacin deficiency, that takes care of it.

Has the duckling been injured?

No not that I know of. Unless the people I got him from dropped him or something???

Let's go for the more common and fixable idea that it may be a niacin deficiency. And just follow the recommendations for raising ducklings. Have you read the Raising Ducklings Sticky yet? Do you have a book on raising ducklings? Those can be helpful.

Definitely at least read the sticky.

Where to find sticky? One of the ducks just pooped, looks like blood. Dark brown/red
