Head shaking?

If you can get them to a vet, do. Meanwhile, get the niacin and start them on that.

Does the dark poo smell like blood? I had a duckling who always pooped something like (forgive the analogy) chocolate sauce - I was worried - but everyone turned out fine.

So, no treats that might darken the stool?

This was what the older duckling did, after he stepped in it.. Blood?

Can you get him or her to a vet? I am concerned.

I might also give a weak, cooled, comfrey tea, but that's because I try things like that. It's supposed to help with bleeding.

It could be an infection, in which case antibiotics are needed. And I am not comfortable figuring dosages for ducklings. I think it's based on weight . . .

Will get him to a vet ASAP. It does not always look like this, I've seen it twice from him. Will the younger duck get infected with whatever he has?

That is possible.  Depends on what it is.  Could he have eaten something sharp?  Ducklings will try to eat anything . . . some ducklings, anyway.

TSC was out of duck bedding so they gave us hamster/rodent bedding for temporary use and told us it would be fine, if he ate one of the chips could it have cut him? Not sharp enough?

Don't know - - - You could put an old towel on top to be on the safe side.  My runners tried to eat everything so we used old towels.

Will do. Other than the poop both are acting fine. Head shaking has stopped. Trying to eat everything at the floor, jumping over my legs... Poop is only thing odd.

Also, ducks will randomly spring around the room for a second or two, usually both of them. Normal?
