healing approach for any chicken illness

I so appreciate your thoughta and advice
yeah but honestly that sounds like a lot of coconut oil for just two chickens. I know mine luv coconut even though they havent had it too much.... cause I rarely find it at the salvage store. I was buying Organic finely shredded from Amazon for myself.....in say 6pks at a time. but I was eating so much coconut OIL I was getting extreme redness and sore inflamed looking, swollen gums.... I finally fig out it was the coconut oil I was eating spoonfuls,,,, So I cut back on it...
I dont see how your list of ingredients can fix a bacterial, nfetion, issue... if that is what it is.. I listen to health radio all the time so oregano oil is famialr with me Im more use to the whole herbs
I was adding red palm oil little to their mixture of "grains" but its so expensive for close to a dozen spoiled rotten bunch..
Their poo is not just runny it WATERY even gets on the floor and wall and all over the "poo tray"
I do give them some stuff like quiona, buckwheat, rarely barley, sesame seeds, flax seed, oat groats, millet,wh germ, teff, split peas, little wheat ....But one two or three will hog most of it even though I put it it in long pans stainless steel ... like 3 pans...
they run the others off and run back and forth between those three pans like pecking musical chairs. but the hoggies were picking out what they wanted and leaving the premix etc there
I occ take some of my oregano, rosemary, thyme and stick it in their water bowls and or canned salmon, tuna, brown rice. They got 1/2 can of salmon today minus most of the salty "broth"....Earler a bit of rice, with premix, aramarth, teff, tumeric, bl pepper, crushed vitami B complex, lil salt.
They all shared a baked yam with lil ginger, cin earler.I grew some and bought 1/2 bushel I luv them myself unadorned eaten cold even...
But I may try again something simlar soon like yours...I used to ferment their big mixture of grains.....also used to grow sprouts for them too esp during winter
just a saying and my opinions

Hey again ladyearth, apologies on the belated reply to your most recent post here - sounds like you are doing lots of really good natural things with your chicken keeping. Turmeric aka liquid gold especially has so many therapeutic properties for human and animal. You could easily incorporate DE, coconut oil or oregano oil to what you are already feeding. I bet they went nuts of that baked yam, talk about a chicken's delight.

I should have clarified that my 'big' spoonful of coconut oil was with a long stem tea spoon though the first few days my hens had a little more than that. And for the moment, the feeding protocol I am following is once a day because they simply don't consume it all at once. The difference in doing it this way too is there is less food waste -- no dry crumble or seeds left on the ground attracting wild birds.

Anyway, my girls are thriving so this works for me, no more poopy butts, no more impacted crops, no more mites! Yay!!

There's lots of detailed info out there on DE, coconut oil and oregano oil. DE is known for many uses and one is it's ability to purge intestinal parasites and bad bacteria (we only buy the food grade Permaguard - you can buy it elsewhere even health food stores where it's commonly labeled phytoplankton or fossil shell flour - different labeling costs more for less, same stuff - Permaguard is only about $30 for 50 pounds at most feed stores).

Coconut oil also has a vast range of uses and known for it's anti microbial effect when ingested - it can help rid the body of bad bacteria, viruses and fungal infections.

Same with oregano oil - very powerful potent stuff -- many beneficial uses for human and animal. For a human, taken orally/daily, it will rid the body of any and all infection within four days. We've also used it in the past to supplement treating dogs for valley fever (which is caused by fungal spores in soil). So for chickens, there is nothing better to eliminate and totally prevent fungal infections.

I think everyone should have these things available at all times (along with colloidal silver) - they go a long ways to promote healthy living for our human and animal families. But don't take my word for it, do your own research and draw your own conclusions if you decide to try any of this. I've heard of people being allergic to coconut oil but never the pure organic stuff. What you described sounded more like shredded coconut, like what's used in baking (unless I've misunderstood)? I'm also aware that some people can be allergic to the plant family that includes oregano -- so caution must be used.

Hope your flock is doing well and thank you for continuing to share what you are doing!!

that all I buy in coconut oil the Nutiva or similar organic big bottle of.. till have some unopened new bottles of.
yeah got a whole bag of DE food grade, sulfur food grade too from the web...
Yeah. I got suspicious of coconut oil when an Amish store owner told me he found out too much coconut oil was causing him mouth sores too.... Go fugure. LOL
I still eat and use it a bit but not much at a time...
wish I could find someone who was coming to visit to stop by Whole Foods and get me some Oregano oil.....Now that summer is over dont have as many of Hubby buddies esp fishing buddies coming for a visit from the big city to this lil town..

The oregano oil - you can buy it on line, or even try making your own by growing oregano (though it would take a LOT to have the potency that the oil does).

You know, it's possible that the coconut oil is causing a healing crisis. Like with many things, taking DE internally, juicing, etc... one can have a healing crisis that gets worse before it gets better once they start. I'm not saying that is what's causing the reaction to coconut oil, just that it's possible and that if that is the reason, it's unfortunate people don't recognize it for what it is = purging the yucky stuff out of your body so it can heal and return to balance.

I am thinking about putting the oregano oil in their water tomorrow. It s essential oil, pure not diluted. Found it in health food store in nearby town.
How many drops per quart.? Five seems a lot since it undiluted? even one zeems strong we give in water in qt "bowls" or glass coffeepots(from thrift stores, cleaned everyday) in several spots around run and fenced field and shelters. presently been putting some of my just cut oregano , thyme, etc in their water....
I have ordered more different too, essential oils from the web....just in case for us or them to keep on hand. You tubers say to dilute most in a good say Greek olive oil...ordered that too
cause more girls are getting the watery all over the poop bd poops... and floor too. and no eggs today and others days 1 or two and feathers all over its a mess
thanks all
