Chickens have every single egg already formed inside of their bodies before they hatch. Humans have tampered strongly with the genetics of chickens to make them lay at an extremely unnatural rate. It's like breeding human women to have a period every two daysA general thing to look for is how many eggs they lay. More eggs, in general, means fewer years of life.
Of course this dramatically speeds up aging
A few months ago I picked up a three year old Rhode Island Red and she felt very old. Dull, unpleasant feathers to touch. She used up all of her life force in a short period of time to make food for my family
Then touching a three year old gamefowl and her feathers are sleak, smooth, and her body is muscular and filled with strength. There's truly no comparison between these two types of birds
The longest living chickens will always lay the least amount of eggs. Mutts will also love longer than purebreeds with few exceptions (mostly designer hybrids being the exception)
