I'm new to hatching. Hatched a few chicks last week, and have four eggs locked down right now. The first one has hatched, and I can't help wondering whether it has a deformity near its abdomen/vent area. Here is a link to a video of the hatch on YouTube, in case it helps to observe.
.

You can sort of see what I'm talking about in these pictures (kind of hard to capture, though). Any thoughts on whether I'm being paranoid?

Thanks,

- Kevin

It's just an unhealed navel. It will go down in a day. Sometimes they get excited and hatch in a hurry, causing that. It's totally fine. Congrats on your chick!
