Hear peeping- now what?

Too late and chilly here to fish- but a drink may be in order! I just saw one of th eggs rock a little from side to side from the bator window- very very cool. My 5 year old will NEVER go to sleep tonight- he is loving this- ok- so no answer on my question yet- about how long until full hatch since we just heard peeping?

It depends. they rock, they peep, they rest, it takes a while and a lot out of them so if theyre quiet dont worry, they are just resting. Usually 24 hrs or so from start (peeping) to finish. But the first one may hatch and then it may take a day or so for the rest to hatch.

Tricia-
Thanks so much. I need to heed what I have been reading and acknowledge this is the hardest part- WAITING to see the little fluff balls!

Good luck with the waiting. It is a killer. We just had our first hatch in late March. The bator was in our bedroom. Very stupid!!! When I first heard peeping it was 24 hours before we had some pips, then 12 hours or so before the first ones started to hatch, then every hour or two some would hatch out and the peeping was really loud! ALL NIGHT LONG! Neither me or my husband got much sleep. Good luck on your hatch. It is soooo hard to not keep checking.

Have any chicks yet

Still peeping this morning- one egg has a couple of small pips on the top side- but nothing all the way around- another egg may have a small pip on the bottom - I can see a small piece of shell floating in the water. Is the chick OK to be pipping from the bottom part of the egg? The egg with the obvious pips happened sometime between 11pm and 3am- I know because I was up checking on them all night! HA! How long do you wait before you worry and start thinking they can't get out? No babies and as as first time hatcher- I am already worried that they may be struggling.

Like many have said, the waiting is sooo hard, and I know someone said don't open the bator, but I usually hurry and put in a wet sponge during the peeping time..helps the eggs soften up with a bit more moisture. I have some coming on the 4th. Have done this many a time, and I know I won't be going fishing or drinking..lol...I just can't help it,, I'm addicted to watching those cute little babies come. I also have grand children that get a kick out of brand new fluffy babies. Keep us updated!! It's fun to hear what's going on, and I think it helps some to come on and talk about it in between...
