Heard some peeping under my bedroom window...

Ducklings. Seven ducklings, recently hatched. They look like Mallards.

Do any other ducklings look like Mallards when young?

There is no water around here. None of the nearby neighbors have ducks. No mom in sight.

I chased them into a clump of tall clover, and caught them and put them in a bucket on a towel.

NOW WHAT DO I DO??? I have Anconas and four chickens, don't want any more.

Any good suggestions would be welcome!

Rouens also look like Mallards but they don't fly so they are probably Mallards. Unless you have a neighbor whose female went missing, those are wild ducklings. You are not supposed to mess with them. If you have a wildlife rehab center near by I would contact them.

Wood ducklings also resemble mallards and from what I've read they are very hard to care for as babies. I would contact a rehabber to identify them for you and possibly take them in. If you're anywhere near NC, the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue would be a great place.

your right cymbaline. wood ducks look very much like mallards. they're most likely wood ducks. here's a pic
