heat in coop

It egst below freezing at night and about 45 or so during the day. Is it time to put the heat lamp out in the coop?

Where are you located and how old are your chickens?

Not at those temps,,,,, and you may not need heat at all (all winter),,, depending on your location, and breed of chickens.

Probably not necessary, unless you have a special needs chicken that is weakened in some way, most chickens do just fine in those temps without heat, especially when they have a coop to shelter in.

Some peeps have privacy concerns,,,, and it is also understandable.
You may want to read up on ventilation,,,,,(SINCE YOU ARE NEW TO THIS) It is the most IMPORTANT item in keeping chickens,,,,, in HOT,,, and COLD.

Nope. Provide a dry and draft free area, but one that is well ventilated. So, humidity shouldn’t be higher than outside humidity and the air around their roosts should be calm and not drafty. They can handle below zero temps in this type of environment.

things change a bit if you have silkies or possibly frizzle-feathered birds as they cannot keep themselves as warm as a regular feathered bird.

Isn't it significantly colder east of the mountains?
Even so, I doubt you need heat.
