heat lamp

hello.
i have 5 chicks in the coop right now.. i am using the 250 red heat lamp. they are 4 weeks old this week, when can i turn off the heat lamp or can i go to the temp of 75 watt heat lamp? thanks in advance!

You can probably go to the 75 watt this week and forget about it altogether the next week. They are usually almost fully feathered at 5 weeks.

Mine are 5 weeks and I took out the heat lamp this past week. They're doing fine and I'm in Mass so I guess we're having similar weather. The forecast for the end of the week looks warm if you want to wait until then.
