Hi everyone! I'm going to be getting ducklings soon, and I'm wondering-are ceramic heaters & domes safer/more energy efficient? I'm concerned of the fire risk....or just get the regular standard white and metal dome?

I used ceramic heaters for my ducklings - suspended on a well-supported section of half inch metal hardware cloth over their brooder. I had three and could turn them on and off to adjust the temperature.

I kept a non-mercury thermometer in the brooder to know the temperature.

Hi,
i read your question regarding thiny legs,
the NIACIN is the best for this, mix it water for ducklings.

Ok! Thx Amiga! You are the best. I ended up getting a brooder "lamp" -10"- and it has a porcelain socket....hope it's ok. I got a 125 watt bulb, as they are being brooded in our 55 degree basement. Hows that sound? I might order a red 150 watt to have a back-up.
