As long as the light is red can the chickens see it. When my birds where young I used a red heat lamp to keep them warm. Can I put a 100 watt red lamp in the coop to raise the temps a little and keep the water from freezing at night and not bother them? I hope I explained this so everyone understands. I also didn't know where to post this. John

I am new to chicks but from what I understand on here is that they can still see a red light............its just not as bright as it would be if a white light. I have a red light in my coop but only to extend the daylight hours for laying. If I leave the red light on after dark...they do not go to roost so I am thinking it is enough light to keep them awake.
