Hiya everyone, I have recently purchased a new heat light for my chicks. I put a 150x oz white globe init and it doesnt seem to be super warm. At the moment i have it about 10 ish inches above the chicks. What do you guys recomend? Thanks in Advance
 
The globe and holder.
It just doesnt seem to put out much heat.

OK,,, thanks for the pix. I suggest you turn it on and wait some time for it to warm up. At 150 watts, it should get pretty warm.
Keep an eye on it so you don't accidentally overheat your chicks. Place a thermometer on the floor surface below light and note the temperature.
I'm not there to check things with ammeter, so only thing I suggest if possible, is;; If you have a regular old style incandescent light bulb of equal watt value, try to see how much that one puts out in warmth.
There is a possibility that the lamp you purchased is defective. :idunno
 
Cool. Thanks for your help. Ive checked the temp using the only thermometer I have which is an infrared one and it reckons its 35° so thata about right I think.
Ive only used a heat pad thing that aits above the chicks before so this type is a bit new to me
