Heat plate help

I’m trying a heat plate for the first time. I concluded to do the same thing. I hu g a work light in the brooder so that they’ll venture out for food and water. I’m concerned that the next couple night it will be in the 20s and that they won’t want to come out from under the plate for food/water. I might hang the heat lamp for a couple nights until the weather warms up a bit. It always makes me nervous even though I secure it. I’d like to NOT burn the barn down.

I read somewhere on here to not use a heat plate if the Temps get below 50. Maybe something to look into

They really shouldn’t be coming out at night, so it might be ok if they’re not being interrupted by the light
