What did you do in the garden today?

Did somebody say.... Blackberries?!View attachment 4127731
I can hardly wait to start harvesting... 😁

I forgot to show off the chicken cake I made my DS for his birthday. It's the most impressive thing I've ever crafted in my entire life. First time carving and I feel like I actually nailed it. , 😀 I have never piped for so many hours in one day.

Just WOW 🤯
It looks fantastic 🤩

I have trouble with just regular frosting looking okay

Thank you guys. It was a labor of love. It was delicious. Her feathers were cherry American crusting buttercream icing, a vanilla cake, and the filling icing was a cream cheese Italian meringue buttercream. I cheated and used extracts(emulsions) for the frosting flavors. But it's all from scratch.

The cupcakes were funfetti cake from a box. But I have a specific preparation method that makes it incredibly moist but light and fluffy. I used the same crusting buttercream on them.

I don't bake sweets often. DH and I live Keto. I did eat cake as a victory reward on Saturday though. 🤣

This morning I've watered. It's going to be hot. Reset gopher traps that got filled with dirt. Smart gophers this season. Trying to break a broody with the exclusion method.

omg those are so perfect!!! Wish I was just half as talented as you!

Tornadoes, tornadoes and more tornadoes! Onions and sunflowers laid out flat from the last one, damage removed, staked or replanted and here we go again with another tornado tonight! Aaaargh! On the bright side, we have had the longest most comfortable spring I've experienced in years. Usually goes to real hot, real fast around here.
Picked huge bowls of honeysuckle flowers for my tea. Was fabulous with a sprig of mint. Elder berries are starting to bloom now, so looking forward to their flowers for tea now, and their berries later for medicine. I have my calendula petals soaking in oil now, when the chamomile blooms I'll add their petals to the oil, then a little frankincense and a drop or two of tea tree oil. So fabulous for my old lady skin. Trying to get some of the medicinals out of the way before I get so busy putting up food for the year

My cucumbers are coming along nicely. I got my Lima beans and yard long beans planted! I dug up some volunteer snake bean plants to transplant later!
Got the okra in some pots bc area isn’t ready yet.
Hopefully dd and gs will help me get the tomatoes in!
The garden also has a new fence! We just had netting to keep deer out but that won’t keep chickens in when we release them at end of season.
And cleaned out brooder box bc we have a new batch about ready to hatch!!
Whew
