However passive solar will do next to no good if you do not ALSO have serious insulation AND lots and lots of thermal mass to store the warmth into daytime. Otherwise, without insulation you're not achieving much at all, and with insulation but without much thermal mass all you're doing is accentuating day-night temperature differences which is not generally in chickens' best interests.
