It works *real* good.

However passive solar will do next to no good if you do not ALSO have serious insulation AND lots and lots of thermal mass to store the warmth into daytime. Otherwise, without insulation you're not achieving much at all, and with insulation but without much thermal mass all you're doing is accentuating day-night temperature differences which is not generally in chickens' best interests.

Thanks for the info. I plan to do some major coop overhaul this spring - my girls are doing okay so far this year - but my coop area needs a lot of work - I plan to get it a little more secure and insulated - so may see what it can do. At least I wouldnt have to worry about a power outage... lol
