Heat source

Does anybody use Ceramic Heat Emitters for heat source in Home made Incubators.
Also do you put the heat source above or below eggs.
What about creating a fire hazard with the heater which ever you use.

A fellow BYCer just made a homemade incubator using a light with a very sensitive dimmer switch. She uses that to regulate the temps and it's working. She's got some eggs she bought from me in there and I'm crossing my fingers that it works. If it does, I'll be making myself a homemade incubator to add to the two I purchased. The more the merrier correct?
