I have a yearling BR turkey hen that is very ill.
None of the other turks are acting like this. Since she's aggressive towards other turkeys, she's been isolated from the flock for several months, and free-ranges around the yard with a handful of elderly chickens.
Temperatures have been reaching 100F for the past few days, and it was then that she started acting a little off. I thought she was just dehydrated. After a few drinks of water, she was fine for the rest of the day. Next day was similar.
Yesterday she really went downhill. She had a fever, watery slightly-yellow droppings, poor appetite and thirst, and her sinus cavities are puffy. No wheezing, rattling, sneezing or discharge. Since she's ranging with chickens, I thought it was blackhead and began treating her accordingly with Fish-Zole. (Two tablets first day; one tablet for the remaining five days.) She improved slightly, but by this morning was very hot and uncomfortable.
I'm doing everything I can to insure that she's kept cool. Watering down the lawn, tubing her with electrolytes, and keeping her in the shade. (She's also been standing in the sprinkler on her own.)
She felt good enough to try and attack a bucket I was carrying, but is still very wobbly.
If she does have blackhead, does she have a possible secondary infection? Only antibiotics I have on hand (besides Fish-Zole) are Fishmox, LA 300 and Tylan 50. Thank you for any tips and advice you may have.
