Hey guys! I'm looking for some big/fluffy heat tolerant chickens. I live in Arizona, so during the summer it's average temperature is 105. I want chickens that are too big to fly, aren't broody, friendly, and heat tolerant. I already have a roo, barred rock, buff orpington, and an easter egger. They MUST all get along, and they must be sweet.

If there is a chicken that isn't flighty (fat or not), that would be great. Also, I want a production bird (fair to AWESOME)!

Since You already have a barred Rock, a Buff Orpington, and an Easter Egger, I would suggest adding one or more Rhode Island Red hens. They are a great dual-purpose chicken that does not go broody often and are heat and cold tolerant. And for eggs, the Rhode Island Red is one of the best.

Some Rhode Island Reds can be aggressive, and this is most often seen with roosters.

My rooster is a Rhode Island Red, and I want a little more variety. Thanks!!!

Thanks!!!!!

Another possible choice is the Australorp. However, Australorp hens go broody sometimes.

Australorps lay eggs well, are heat tolerant, and are generally friendly.

Cochins are big and fluffy, heat tolerant, but not so great layers. There are also brahmas, I don't now how well they lay though.

The Light Sussex may be another breed you want to look at. (The Speckled Sussex is more broody.)
